A growing number of eastern European holidaymakers are choosing to visit Turkey, new figures have revealed.
TurkishPress.com cited government statistics showing that in January and February, the country attracted over 280,000 people from eastern Europe.
This is more than ten per cent up on the first two months of 2007 and a sign that Turkey’s appeal is getting wider.
Furthermore, it reinforces the country’s status as a popular destination for holidaymakers during the winter months.
According to the figures, more than 140,000 Bulgarian nationals chose to take a holiday during this period.
They were outnumbered only by German tourists, making them one of the largest groups of foreign tourists to visit Turkey in 2008.
The Turkish government is currently aiming to increase the annual number of foreign arrivals from 23 million to 50 million in the next 15 years.
If authorities are successful in achieving this goal, this should significantly enhance its appeal among buy-to-let investors.

Nice post. These are pretty cool numbers.
I wanted to tell you about the situation in North Cyprus.
Since last year there has been sharp increase in number of Russian, Israeli, Iranian and German investors. Whereas majority of foreign home buyers in north Cyprus used to be the British. The trend seems to be changing.
